Hi, my name is Maggie Baker, first of all I want to welcome you to my website and thank you for taking a minute to read about me.
As a practicing psychologist for 30 years, I offer services for anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, ADHD/ADD and money behavior issues. I work with individuals, couples and families as well as facilitate group psychotherapy.
My training in clinical psychology and child development allows me to see both children and adults through the life span. My therapeutic approach of empathic understanding and emotional attunement strives to identify a person’s strengths and help them expand and use those strengths to set and reach personal and professional goals and to sustain positive self esteem.
My two specialties are the assessment and treatment of ADHD and the psychology of money and wealth. I I have written a book about money beliefs and emotions, published in 2011. Crazy About Money tells the stories of people who try to act rationally about money but end up sabotaging their own efforts. It is on sale here at my website and on Amazon.com
My Treatment Philosophy
My counseling approach is based on self-psychology, a branch of psychoanalytic/psychodynamic psychology. Empathy for and affect atonement to the person seeking help create the means to facilitate a safe and trusting relationship. Within this secure base the help seeker is free to focus on problematic issues that are then processed and resolved within the context of the therapeutic relationship.
I also draw from a variety of therapeutic techniques, including cognitive behavioral therapy, Gestalt therapy and EMDR.
The overarching goal of my work is to empower individuals, couples and families to achieve optimal psychological, physical and financial balance and well being.

TRIANGLE OF BALANCE
Well-being comes from the old English word, “weil,” meaning wealth. To live meaningfully and have TRUE wealth in our modern times, well-being needs to be based on the TRIANGLE OF BALANCE. The Triangle of Balance includes not only a financial component. Equally important are a physical/psychological and a spiritual emphasis, thus completing the TRIANGLE.

ABOUT MY BOOK
I found motivation to write, Crazy About Money: How Emotions Confuse Our Money Choices and What To Do About It, as an effort to heal a year long depression. The depression was caused by a $400,000 loss in the 2000 tech bubble crash. Many others suffered such losses. I wanted to let them know they were not alone. My message is intended to offer help by sharing stories of people’s money struggles and victories, including my own. Finally, I encourage readers to develop and become money strong and money secure.
